KINTSUGI WORKSHOP

Barcelona, October 14th, 2021. Next week, the Urushi Barcelona studio is hosting a KINTSUGI workshop (ceramics restoration). The first session will be held on the 21st of October, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

KINTSUGI is an application of the Urushi technique by which broken pieces are restored, thereby acquiring an added value. The philosophy underlying this Japanese technique, which birth is placed at the end of the 15th century, is that cracks and repairs are events in the history of an object and are something to show rather than disguise. Thus, repairs are incorporated to the piece to give it a new glow and reveal its transformation and history.

The workshop will have a duration of 9h distributed in 4 days and will be led by Teresa Sardà, an Urushi artist and restorer. Sessions are starting next Thursday, October 21st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The second session is being held on November 18th and will continue the following days, as each piece requires.

If you are interested in this activity, please, book a place by sending an e-mail to ACCAL associaciolaca@artdelalaca.net, since groups are limited to eight people due to the reduced space in our study and COVID measures.

This workshop is one of the activities for the spreading of this kind of art organised by ACCAL within the programme of activities carried out thanks to the support of the JEC FUND GRANT.
